Who I Am
I’m a young adult author, reader, and public librarian who writes novels about widespread but rarely talked about social issues like drug abuse and human trafficking. Spreading awareness about these topics is important to me because they are issues many teens in American society face, but that are seldom voiced in books or the media. As an avid reader and public librarian, I want to see more YA novels about these difficult subjects to help warn teens about them and to inspire people to enact change in these areas of society.
What I Blog
- Writing progress
- Exclusive content
- Joys and challenges of writing
- Great books
- Info about topics I write
I am currently working on two YA novels, so I will post regular updates about my progress in writing, revising, and submitting them to publishers. I’ll also post exclusive content about them, including excerpts, character sketches, and more. Beyond my works in progress, I will also post general writing-related content about the joys and challenges of writing a novel, like making time to write and conquering writer’s block. I fully believe you can’t be a writer unless you’re a reader, so I will also blog about great books I’ve read and how they’ve influenced my writing. For those of you who are interested in learning more about the topics I feature in my novels, I will also post articles and general info about social issues like teen drug use.
When I Post
Since I am still in college and work full-time at my local library, on top of finding time to write and revise my novels, I don’t have a lot of time to blog. But I will add at least 2 new posts every month. If you want more regular, less lengthy updates, you can follow me on Twitter.
